Rather expected game in Funchal where 9th ranked Ovarense (7-13) was defeated by seventh ranked CAB Madeira (10-10) 88-82 on Saturday. Strangely Ovarense outrebounded CAB Madeira 39-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was point guard Jalan McCloud (180-1995, college: ETSU) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists. Forward Fred Thomas (196-1993, college: MSU) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Brandon Anderson (185-1997, college: Brown) who recorded 24 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and center Tyere Marshall (206, college: Rider) added 19 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Four Ovarense players scored in double figures. Ovarense's coach Joao Tiago rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. CAB Madeira moved-up to sixth place. Ovarense lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. CAB Madeira will meet at home higher ranked Oliveirense (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ovarense will have a break next round.
