There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Grevenbroich (6-17) defeated on the road higher ranked Deutzer (13-9) 82-73 on Saturday. Grevenbroich had a 38-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard John Murry (192-1995, college: Austin Peay) who scored that evening 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Montenegrin center Dzemal Selimovic (205-1999) supported him with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Murry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by center Christian Froehlingsdorf (210-1993) did not help to save the game for Deutzer. Philipp Gruber (193-1996) added 12 points and 5 assists. Deutzer's coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Grevenbroich maintains fourteenth position in West with 6-17 record. Loser Deutzer dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. Grevenbroich will meet at home higher ranked Leverkusen 2 (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Deutzer will play against the league's leader Herford where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
