Regular Season Round 25: Zalgiris - Jonava 93-70

Leader Zalgiris delivered the twenty second victory. This time they crushed 6th ranked Jonava (10-11) 93-70 in Kaunas. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Jonava's 32. They outrebounded Jonava 39-17 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of French center Joffrey Lauvergne (211-1991, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 21 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). International center Marek Blazevic (209-2001) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Jure Zdovc felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vitalijus Kozys (201-1999) answered with 21 points and Belgian point guard Emmanuel Lecomte (180-1995, college: Baylor) added 12 points and 6 assists in the effort for Jonava. Zalgiris (22-1) have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place. Jonava lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Zalgiris will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Jonava will play at home against the league's second-placed Rytas (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
