Important game to mention about took place in Oldenburg. Sixteenth ranked EWE Baskets (8-17) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked BG Goettingen (14-9) 86-85 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of BG Goettingen. Israeli-American guard Max Heidegger (191-1997, college: UCSB) notched 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American Rickey Paulding (196-1982, college: Missouri) supported him with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Kamar Baldwin (185-1997, college: Butler) did not help to save the game for BG Goettingen. His fellow American import point guard Stephen Brown Jr (180-1996, college: Bucknell) added 20 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. EWE Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Wuerzburg. BG Goettingen at the other side keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. EWE Baskets will play against bottom-ranked 46ers (#18) in Giessen in the next round. BG Goettingen will play at home against s Oliver Baskets (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
