Regular Season Round 30: Paderborn - Rostock 79-82

Eighth-ranked Uni Baskets (15-12) made lots of trouble for first ranked Seawolves (22-6) in Paderborn on Saturday. The visitors from Rostock managed to secure only three-point victory 82-79. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Uni Baskets. Seawolves made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Uni Baskets turnovers. Strangely Uni Baskets outrebounded Seawolves 35-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Uni Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Tyler Nelson (190-1995, college: Fairfield) who scored 26 points. Swingman Nijal Pearson (196-1997, college: Texas St.) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Brad Greene (210-1998, college: UC Irvine) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and point guard Jordan Barnes (179-1997, college: Indiana St.) added 12 points and 8 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Seawolves have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-6 record. Uni Baskets at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. Seawolves are looking forward to face Schwenningen (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Uni Baskets will play against Gladiators (#5) and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
