Very expected game in Botevgrad where 6th ranked Beroe (11-10) was defeated by second ranked Balkan (17-4) 85-76. It was a good game for American point guard Ahmaad Rorie (184-1995, college: Montana) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Derrick Marks (191-1993, college: Boise St.) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four Balkan players scored in double figures. Balkan's coach Nebojsa Vidic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Nigerian-American Obinna Oleka (203-1993, college: Arizona St., agency: Slash Sports) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Cadarian Raines (205-1990, college: Virginia Tech) added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Beroe. Balkan have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 17-4 record having just two points less than leader Rilski. Beroe at the other side keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Balkan will play against Akademik P. (#7) in Plovdiv in the next round where they are favorite. Beroe will play at home against Cherno More and hopes to get back on the winning track.
