Regular Season Round 16: Cluj CSU - Oradea 2 73-71

The most exciting game of round 16 in the Liga I took place in Cluj Napoca. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Oradea 2 (9-6) to sixth ranked Cluj CSU (10-5) 73-71 in the game for the fifth place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oradea 2 won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mihnea-Tudor Brie (196-2001) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and forward Rares Mihasan (-2000) who added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side Enzo Vescan (194-2002, agency: BIG) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and guard Vlad Marinau (193-2003) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cluj CSU moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Oradea 2 dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Cluj CSU are looking forward to face higher ranked Laguna S. (#3) in Bucuresti in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Oradea 2 will play at home against the league's leader Stiinta and is hoping to win this game.
