Regular Season Round 19: VKM - Panevezio 92-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked VKM's (10-8) home victory over 7th ranked Panevezio (9-10) 92-71. It looked good early as Panevezio took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then VKM had a 24-14 second period charge getting the lead and Panevezio was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-92. They outrebounded Panevezio 45-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. VKM players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Laurynas Klimas (182-2004) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Danielius Kasparas (198-2004) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Coach Linas Salkus's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players saving starting five for next games. Guard Nikas Stuknys (194-2005) answered with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Tallat-Kelpsa Vilhelmas (196-2004) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Panevezio. Five VKM and four Panevezio players scored in double figures. VKM moved-up to fourth place. Panevezio at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. VKM will play against higher ranked Zalgiris II (#3) in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panevezio will play at home against Zalgiris I (#12) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
