There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked EWE Baskets (9-18) edged on the road higher ranked Bayreuth (11-16) 74-71 on Wednesday. It was a great evening for Israeli-American guard Max Heidegger (191-1997, college: UCSB) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 assists. American Rickey Paulding (196-1982, college: Missouri) helped adding 18 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international center Andreas Seiferth (209-1989, agency: LUMANI 10.7) with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Terry Allen (203-1993, college: Richmond) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for EWE Baskets. Despite that victory EWE Baskets went down to sixteenth position due to points difference. Bayreuth lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh place with 16 games lost. EWE Baskets will meet at home league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayreuth will play against ALBA Berlin (#5) and hope to secure a win.
