Fifteenth-ranked Galati (5-20) used its home court advantage to challenge eighth ranked Sibiu (12-12). The visitors from Sibiu managed to secure only eleven-point victory 105-94. However their fans expected much easier game. Galati was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 22-20 charge of Sibiu, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-6. Sibiu made 24-of-30 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Galati only scored five points from the stripe. Galati was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Rares Uta (212-1997) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). American Monyea Pratt (196-1985, college: Stillman) helped adding 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was American guard Matt Milon (196-1996, college: UCF) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Jamaican-Canadian point guard Javon Masters (183-1994, college: UNB, agency: Blacktop Management) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sibiu moved-up to seventh place. Galati lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 20 games lost. Sibiu will play against Rapid (#14) in Bucuresti in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galati will play on the road against Timisoara and hopes to get back on the winning track.
