There was an upset when higher ranked Lions (15-12) were edged by fifteenth ranked Artland Dragons (11-18) in Karlsruhe 86-85 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Taren Valdis Sullivan (198-1995, college: Findlay, OH) who led the winners and scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American point guard Zachary Ensminger (195-2001) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. American guard Stanley Whittaker (183-1994, college: Keiser) came up with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Lions in the defeat. Artland Dragons maintains fifteenth place with 11-18 record. Loser Lions dropped to the ninth position with 12 games lost. Artland Dragons will meet at home higher ranked Rasta Vechta (#13) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lions will play against Falcons (#6) and hope to secure a win.
