Regular Season Round 27: Bayreuth - Bamberg 71-84
Date: March 26, 2022
There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Brose Bamberg (12-14) defeated on the road their close opponent Bayreuth (11-16) 84-71 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International power forward Christian Sengfelder (202-1995, college: Boise St.) helped adding 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Bastian Doreth (183-1989, agency: LUMANI 10.7) with 10 points and 8 assists and Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (208-1996) scored 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Brose Bamberg and five Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Bayreuth's coach Raoul Korner let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brose Bamberg. They maintain tenth place with 12-14 record. Bayreuth lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Brose Bamberg will meet at home bottom-ranked Skyliners (#18) in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
