Very expected game when 7th ranked Lusitania (10-12) was smashed by second ranked Benfica (19-3) in Lisbon 131-72 on Saturday. Benfica shot 64.0 percent from the field. Benfica outrebounded Lusitania 41-20 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 60.6 percentage. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Lusitania's players. American center Wendell Lewis (208-1989, college: Alabama St.) notched 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Bahamas-American forward Travis Munnings (198-1994, college: ULM) supported him with 8 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Benfica's coach Norberto Alves felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Kazembe Abif (201-1992, college: Drexel) did not help to save the game for Lusitania. His fellow American import point guard Devon Goodman (183-1997, college: Pennsylvania) added 17 points and 9 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Benfica have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-3 record having just two point less than leader FC Porto, which they share with Sporting.
