Date: March 27, 2022
Fourth-ranked Amager (1-20) gave a tough game to second ranked Vaerlose (8-13) on Sunday. Vaerlose managed to secure only one-point victory 77-76. However their fans expected easier game. Vaerlose forced 20 Amager turnovers. Strangely Amager outrebounded Vaerlose 46-32 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Asbjorn Nerlov (196-1998) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Karl Formann (192-1998) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Derrick Woods (203-1997, college: St.Peter's) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Mitch Pelissier (190-1997, college: Concordia, IL) scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. Amager's coach Almir Zeco rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vaerlose maintains second position with 8-13 record behind leader Bakken. Amager at the other side keeps the fourth place with 20 games lost. Vaerlose will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Amager will play on the road against the league's leader Copenhagen (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
