Second Stage Round 7: Besiktas - Galatasaray 83-74

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Besiktas (#3) and Galatasaray (#4). Besiktas (11-5) won against visiting Galatasaray (9-7) 83-74. They outrebounded Galatasaray 44-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Ege Ozsever (-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 5 steals. Emir Adiguzel (-2003) helped adding 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Haktan Yavas (201-2004) responded with 21 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and Acar Sen (193-2003) scored 11 points and 8 assists. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Besiktas. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Anadolu Efes. Loser Galatasaray keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Fenerbahce. Besiktas will meet Turk Telekom (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galatasaray will play against Pinar Karsiyaka (#8) in Izmir and hope to secure a win.
