The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Turk Telekom's (11-14) home victory over 12th ranked Merkezefendi (8-17) 100-96 on Saturday. Turk Telekom looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Aubrey Dawkins (198-1995, college: UCF, agency: Network Sports International) fired 30 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Mexican point guard Alexander Perez-Kaufmann (191-1993, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 22 points and 8 assists. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. American point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU, agency: Network Sports International) produced 34 points (!!!) and his fellow American import center Devonte Upson (206-1993, college: SE Louisiana) added 22 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!) respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Turk Telekom maintains eleventh position with 11-14 record. Newly promoted Merkezefendi keeps the twelfth place with 17 games lost. Turk Telekom will meet higher ranked Besiktas (#10) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Merkezefendi will play against Buyukcekmece and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
