Regular Season Round 28: Braunschweig - Goettingen 101-64
Date: April 3, 2022
There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Braunschweig (10-16) outplayed at home higher ranked BG Goettingen (14-11) 101-64 on Sunday. They outrebounded BG Goettingen 40-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Braunschweig shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Czech point guard Ondrej Sehnal (196-1997) who scored that evening 16 points and 9 assists and Czech center Martin Peterka (205-1995) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by American point guard Jeremiah Martin (190-1996, college: Memphis) did not help to save the game for BG Goettingen. His fellow American import forward Nate Grimes (203-1996, college: Fresno St., agency: Agency) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Braunschweig moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Heidelberg. BG Goettingen lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Braunschweig will meet EWE Baskets (#15) in the next round. BG Goettingen will play against Hamburg Towers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
