Rather expected game when 6th ranked Panevezio (10-13) lost to third ranked Zalgiris II (17-2) in Kaunas 76-86 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 49-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zalgiris II made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game, while Panevezio only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded Panevezio 60-32 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Dominykas Cernius (204-2004) nailed a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 22 rebounds (went 16 for 16 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and forward Gytis Litvaitis (198-2004) accounted for 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Guard Nikas Stuknys (194-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 assists and 5 steals and guard Arnas Strikulys (188-2005) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Panevezio in the defeat. Zalgiris II have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Loser Panevezio keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Zalgiris II will meet VKKM (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Panevezio will play against KKM I in Klaipeda and hope to secure a win.
