Second Stage Round 10: UBSC Graz - Gmunden 79-73

The most important game in the last round took place in Graz between second ranked Gmunden Swans (17-8) and fourth ranked UBSC Graz (13-12) on Wednesday night. Gmunden Swans were defeated by UBSC Graz in a tough game on the road 73-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gmunden Swans. Gmunden Swans trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 20-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-79 at the end of the game. UBSC Graz looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Damani Applewhite (203-1998, college: SC State) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import guard Randy Haynes (193-1995, college: ODU) contributed with 19 points and 8 assists for the winners. The former international guard Benedikt Guettl (190-1994) replied with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international guard Daniel Friedrich (181-1992) added 14 points and 7 assists in the effort for Gmunden Swans. Gmunden Swans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UBSC Graz maintains fourth position with 13-12 record. Defending champion Gmunden Swans keep the second place with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
