There was no surprise when Illiabum was defeated on the road by Ovarense 86-77 on Friday. Ovarense dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Illiabum's 30. The game was dominated by American players. Center Tyere Marshall (206, college: Rider) had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Brandon Anderson (185-1997, college: Brown) chipped in 13 points and 9 assists during the contest. Ovarense's coach Joao Tiago used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Lamar Morgan (201-1997, college: Coppin St.) responded with 25 points and forward Tahjai Teague (203-1997, college: Ball St.) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ovarense will meet at home Academica in the next round. Illiabum will play against Vitoria SC in Guimaraes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
