Not a big story in a game in Crailsheim where 12th ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (10-17) was defeated by tenth ranked Hakro Merlins (13-13) 87-72 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American forward Jaren Lewis (198-1996, college: ACU) who scored 30 points and 5 rebounds. The former international Fabian Bleck (197-1993) chipped in 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Jordan Geist (188-1997, college: Missouri, agency: Inception Sports) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Maximilian Ugrai (201-1995, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hakro Merlins moved-up to ninth place. Newly promoted MLP Academics Heidelberg dropped to the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Braunschweig. Hakro Merlins will meet Braunschweig (#15) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against ratiopharm Ulm and hope to secure a win.
