Regular Season Round 31: Galati - Miercurea Ciuc 86-68

Bottom-ranked Galati managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the series of nine consecutive losses on Saturday night. This time they won against fifteenth-ranked Miercurea Ciuc 86-68. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference proves that Galati was well-prepared to that game. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-68. Galati dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Miercurea Ciuc's 24 and made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galati (6-22) moved-up to fifteenth place. Miercurea Ciuc lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. Galati will meet higher ranked Pitesti (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Miercurea Ciuc will play against Rapid (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
