Regular Season Round 29: Nevezis - Siauliai 93-83

There was an upset when higher ranked Siauliai (12-13) lost to tenth ranked Nevezis (6-19) in Kedainiai 83-93 on Monday. Nevezis shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (196-1990) nailed 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Senegalese power forward Amar Sylla (206-2001) accounted for 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. Nevezis' coach Gediminas Petrauskas used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Donatas Sabeckis (197-1992) came up with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-1997) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for Siauliai in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nevezis moved-up to ninth place, which they share with P.Zvaigzdes. Siauliai lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Juventus. Nevezis will meet at home league's second-placed Zalgiris in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Siauliai will play against Prienai CBet and hope to secure a win.
