Regular Season Round 22: VKKM - Zalgiris II 97-77

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked VKKM as it allowed them to take a leadership position. VKKM smashed their biggest opponent Zalgiris II in Vilniaus 97-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Zalgiris II. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. VKKM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris II's 32. VKKM looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Kristupas Keinys (199-2004) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Mantas Mockevicius (197-2004) chipped in 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. VKKM's coach Mindaugas Bugys used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Erikas Anusauskas (182-2004) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds and forward Dominykas Cernius (204-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Zalgiris II at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. They share the position with SKM I.
