There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Balikesir (11-15) defeated at home higher ranked Konyaspor (18-8) 109-102 on Monday. Balikesir made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Konyaspor outrebounded Balikesir 36-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Balikesir looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American guard Kahlil Dukes (183-1995, college: Niagara) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 assists and swingman Omercan Engin (198-1998) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 17 points, 7 rebounds and 14 assists by Tayfun Erulku (192-1994) did not help to save the game for Konyaspor. Canadian-Nigerian power forward Derek Ogbeide (203-1997, college: Georgia, agency: Octagon Europe) added 24 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Four Balikesir and five Konyaspor players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Balikesir moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Konyaspor keeps the fourth position with eight games lost.
