Regular Season Round 32: Pitesti - Ploiesti CSM 80-57

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Pitesti (21-8) outplayed at home 9th ranked Ploiesti CSM (12-17) 80-57 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-57. Pitesti outrebounded Ploiesti CSM 38-25 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Raynere Thornton (201-1997, college: Memphis, agency: 011 Sports) who scored that evening 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (206-1989, college: S.Florida) supported him with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Four Pitesti players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Serbian-North Macedonian point guard Andrej Magdevski (192-1996) did not help to save the game for Ploiesti CSM. Serbian forward Matija Milin (206-1995, college: Fairfield, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points for the guests. Ploiesti CSM's coach Mihai Popa gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Pitesti went down to fourth position due to points difference. Ploiesti CSM lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Steaua B.. Pitesti will meet Rapid (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ploiesti CSM will play against Sibiu and hope to secure a win.
