Second Stage Round 12: Kapfenberg - Gmunden 92-93

Sixth-ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (11-17) gave a tough game to second ranked Gmunden Swans (19-8). The visitors from Gmunden managed to secure only one-point victory 93-92. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Kapfenberg Bulls took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gmunden Swans had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Kapfenberg Bulls were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 92-93. Gmunden Swans made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American forward Stephon Jelks (198-1996, college: Mercer) who scored that evening 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard C.J. Anderson (196-1996, college: UMass, agency: One Motive Sports) supported him with 15 points. Five Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Even 27 points and 9 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by American guard Derryck Thornton (190-1997, college: Boston Coll.) did not help to save the game for Kapfenberg Bulls. Serbian forward Nemanja Krstic (205-1993) added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains second position with 19-8 record having just twelve point less than leader Vienna. Kapfenberg Bulls lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 17 games lost.
