There was no surprise when 13th ranked Focsani (8-20) lost at home to seventh ranked Sibiu (15-14) 73-65 on Friday. Focsani was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Sibiu looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by international point guard Lucas Tohatan (187-1999) who scored that evening 16 points and American forward Tanner McGrew (203-1993, college: WVWC, agency: Duran International) supported him with 5 points and 10 rebounds. Sibiu's coach Miguel Angel Hoyo allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 16 points and 7 rebounds by American power forward Justin Baker (203-1989, college: Utah Valley) did not help to save the game for Focsani. Serbian Pavle Reljic (193-1993) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sibiu maintains seventh position with 15-14 record. Focsani lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. They share the position with Rapid. Sibiu will meet at home Ploiesti CSM (#10) in the next round. Focsani will play against Galati and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
