Regular Season Round 29: Tuebingen 2 - Giessen 100-68

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Giessen Pointers (19-7) on the court of fourth ranked Tuebingen 2 on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Tuebingen 2 100-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Giessen Pointers. Tuebingen 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Giessen Pointers' 28. Tuebingen 2 forced 20 Giessen Pointers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Giessen Pointers' players. Point guard Niklas Schueler (183-1997) stepped up and scored 26 points and 7 assists for the winners and point guard Daniel Zacek (180-2001) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Five Tuebingen 2 players scored in double figures. Tuebingen 2's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Paul Carl (185-2002) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and guard Fritz Rostek (185-2002) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Tuebingen 2 maintains fourth place with 15-8 record. Giessen Pointers at the other side still keep top position with seven games lost. They share it with Stade. Tuebingen 2 are looking forward to face Kronberg (#5) on the road in the next round. Giessen Pointers will have a break next round.
