Very expected game when 15th ranked Braunschweig (10-19) lost at home to eighth ranked Hamburg Towers (17-13) 92-79 on Saturday. Hamburg Towers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-1996, college: Liberty) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 6 assists. The former international Lukas Meisner (203-1995, college: Columbia) accounted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Naturalized Croatian center Benedikt Turudic (207-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Canadian power forward Owen Klassen (208-1991, college: Acadia, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Braunschweig in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hamburg Towers moved-up to seventh place. Braunschweig lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 19 games lost. They share it with Heidelberg. Hamburg Towers will meet at home league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Braunschweig will play against Chemnitz (#6) and hope to secure a win.
