Everything went according to plan when third ranked Dacka (19-9) defeated 13th ranked Merkezefendi (8-20) in Istanbul 76-62 on Sunday. Dacka looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-1991, college: Iowa) notched 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American point guard Troy Caupain (193-1995, college: Cincinnati, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 3 points and 12 assists. Dacka's coach Selcuk Ernak used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by American Jeremy Hollowell (203-1994, college: Georgia St., agency: Network Sports International) did not help to save the game for Merkezefendi. His fellow American import point guard Eugene German (183-1997, college: NIU, agency: Network Sports International) added 15 points. Four Merkezefendi players scored in double figures. Dacka maintains third position with 19-9 record having just three points less than leader Fenerbahce. Merkezefendi lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth place with 20 games lost. Dacka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Besiktas.
