Regular Season Round 29: Akademik P. - Rilski 67-82

NBL top team - Rilski (24-2) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat seventh ranked Akademik P. (11-14) in Plovdiv 82-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Akademik P.. Rilski dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Akademik P.'s 24. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rilski made 7 blocks. American forward Trey Porter (208-1996, college: Nevada) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Brandon Brown (180-1991, college: LMU) chipped in 16 points. International Vasil Bachev (195-1992, college: Cuesta JC) responded with 26 points and 7 rebounds and Latvian Roberts Freimanis (203-1991, college: Liepaja) scored 5 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rilski have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 24-2 record. Akademik P. at the other side keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Rilski are looking forward to face Chernomorets (#4) in Burgas in the next round. Akademik P. will play on the road against Spartak Pleven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
