Not a big story in a game in Ilhavo where 11th ranked Illiabum (7-20) was defeated by ninth ranked Ovarense (12-15) 85-72 on Saturday. Ovarense looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was center Tyere Marshall (206-1997, college: Rider) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Swingman Kameron Chatman (206-1996, college: Detroit) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Ovarense's coach Joao Tiago used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Montell Goodwin (188-1995, college: EIU) produced 21 points and forward Tahjai Teague (203-1997, college: Ball St.) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Illiabum players scored in double figures. Ovarense have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Imortal and Lusitania. Newly promoted Illiabum keeps the eleventh position with 20 games lost. Ovarense will meet bottom-ranked Academica (#12) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Illiabum will play against Vitoria SC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
