Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bayern Muenchen (22-8) against seventh ranked Hamburg Towers (18-13) on Sunday night. Visiting Bayern Muenchen was defeated by Hamburg Towers in a tough game in Hamburg 83-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bayern Muenchen. Hamburg Towers players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The winners were led by Estonian center Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-1996, college: S.Carolina) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-1996, college: Liberty) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Even 28 points and 9 rebounds by American DeShaun Thomas (201-1991, college: Ohio St.) did not help to save the game for Bayern Muenchen. His fellow American import Augustine Rubit (203-1989, college: USA, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hamburg Towers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 18-13 record. Bayern Muenchen at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. Hamburg Towers will play against league's second-placed ALBA Berlin on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Bayern Muenchen will play against BG Goettingen and hopes to get back on the winning track.
