No shocking result in a game when second ranked ALBA Berlin (24-6) defeated at home 7th ranked Hamburg Towers (18-14) 96-81 on Wednesday. ALBA Berlin made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international point guard Maodo Lo (191-1992, college: Columbia) stepped up and scored 17 points for the winners and Israeli point guard Tamir Blatt (184-1997) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was Estonian center Maik-Kalev Kotsar (211-1996, college: S.Carolina) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman Caleb Homesley (198-1996, college: Liberty) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for ALBA Berlin. Defending champion maintains second place with 24-6 record having five points less than leader Bonn. Loser Hamburg Towers keep the seventh position with 14 games lost. ALBA Berlin will meet at home MLP Academics Heidelberg (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hamburg Towers will play against MBC (#16) in Weissenfels and hope to secure a win.
