There was no surprise when 15th ranked Bayreuth (11-22) was defeated at home by fourth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (22-10) 93-87 on Thursday. EnBW Ludwigsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Bayreuth's 26. Strangely Bayreuth outrebounded EnBW Ludwigsburg 42-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. American Justin Simon (196-1996, college: St.John's) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and his fellow American import Jordan Hulls (180-1990, college: Indiana) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. EnBW Ludwigsburg's coach John Patrick used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (208-1996) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman Sacar Anim (196-1997, college: Marquette) scored 17 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Five EnBW Ludwigsburg and four Bayreuth players scored in double figures. EnBW Ludwigsburg maintains fourth place with 22-10 record. Bayreuth lost their twelfth game in a row.
