Regular Season Round 21: Cluj CSU - Targu Mures 68-110

Liga I top team - Targu Mures (20-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Cluj CSU (12-8) in Cluj Napoca 110-68. The game without a history. Targu Mures led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Cluj CSU's 40. They outrebounded Cluj CSU 45-24 including a 33-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Targu Mures players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Center Szabolcs Santa (208-1987) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Belarusian-Moldovan Vladislav Solopa (202-1995) chipped in 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Targu Mures players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Mihnea-Tudor Brie (196-2001) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and forward Rares Mihasan (-2000) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Targu Mures have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Newly promoted Targu Mures maintains first place with 20-1 record, which they share with Stiinta. Cluj CSU at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Targu Mures will play against Agronomia (#6) in Bucuresti in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Cluj CSU will play on the road against the league's second-placed Stiinta in Bucharesti and hopes to get back on the winning track.
