Vevey Riviera cruised past GC Zurich in the opener. Vevey Riviera forced 24 GC Zurich turnovers and outrebounded them 48-33 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Malik Johnson (178-1997, college: Canisius) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Eliott Kubler (203-1998) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds. Vevey Riviera's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bolivian-Spanish forward Luis Choque (197-1997) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Mario Gull (195-1998) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side.
