Very important is a road loss of Amager against Vaerlose on Wednesday night. Visiting Amager was crushed by Vaerlose in Vaerlose 98-72. Vaerlose forced 21 Amager turnovers and outrebounded them 39-25 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Guard Adam Heede-Andersen (187-1996, college: St.Cloud St.) notched 21 points and 8 assists to lead the effort and guard Karl Formann (190-1998) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 19 points by August Sturup (193-2002) did not help to save the game for Amager. Forward Tomas Bjarkason (204-1999, college: Lewis) added 12 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Four Amager players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vaerlose will play against Bakken in Aarhus in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Amager will play at home against Randers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
