Regular Season Round 2: Prienai - Zalgiris 66-91

Very expected game when Prienai CBet was crushed at home by Zalgiris 91-66 on Thursday. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Prienai CBet's 34 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Prienai CBet 33-19 including 23 on the defensive glass. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Prienai CBet's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Laurynas Birutis (213-1997) who scored 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Latvian Rolands Smits (207-1995) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Five Zalgiris players scored in double figures. American point guard Brandon Brown (180-1991, college: LMU) produced 14 points and his fellow American import forward JyLan Washington (206-1997, college: Tennessee St.) added 13 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris will meet at home Siauliai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Prienai CBet will have a break next round.
