Regular Season Round 1: Paderborn - Jena 60-86
Date: September 30, 2022
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Uni Baskets in Paderborn. Hosts were rolled over by Science City Jena 86-60. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Science City Jena outrebounded Uni Baskets 36-24 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized New Zealand Takiula Fahrensohn (201-1999, college: Portland, agency: Haylett Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American Shaquille Hines (200-1993, college: UTRGV) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Science City Jena players scored in double figures. Oshane Drews (198-2001) answered with 21 points and Lars Lagerpusch (207-1998) added 10 points in the effort for Uni Baskets. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Science City Jena will play against Duesseldorf on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Uni Baskets will play against Leverkusen to get more than just one victory in their record.
