There was a small surprise when Hamburg Towers defeated at home MBC 91-74 on Saturday. Hamburg Towers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to MBC's 34. Hamburg Towers forced 19 MBC turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by MBC's players. American point guard Kendale McCullum (184-1996, college: Lewis) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. His fellow American import Yoeli Childs (203-1998, college: BYU) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Slovakian point guard Mario Ihring (193-1998, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and American Lamont Jones (183-1990, college: Iona) added 14 points and 5 steals respectively for lost side. Four MBC players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hamburg Towers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. MBC will play against Telekom Baskets and hope to win that game.
