Regular Season Round 1: VKKM - Zalgiris II 102-88

An exciting game was played in Vilniaus. VKKM faced Zalgiris II. Host VKKM defeated guests from Kaunas 102-88. The game was mostly controlled by VKKM. Zalgiris II managed to win second period 27-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VKKM dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris II's 42. VKKM had a 40-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Point guard Justas Ziubrys (183-2005) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Kristupas Lesciauskas (-2005) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side forward Augustas Navickas (190-2005) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 17 rebounds and Liutauras Serkevicius (-2005) scored 22 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. VKKM will meet Tornado KM in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris II will play against Saule and hope to win that game.
