Very important is a road loss of Bayreuth against EWE Baskets on Wednesday night. Visiting Bayreuth was defeated by EWE Baskets in a tough game in Oldenburg 72-76. American point guard Dewayne Russell (180-1994, college: GCU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import TJ Holyfield (203-1995, college: Texas Tech) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Canadian center Kalif Young (206-1997, college: Providence) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian Jackson Rowe (201-1997, college: CS Fullerton) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Bayreuth. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. EWE Baskets will play against ALBA Berlin at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bayreuth will play against Hamburg Towers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
