Regular Season Round 3: Crailsheim - Goettingen 77-81

No shocking result in a game when BG Goettingen (2-0) beat Hakro Merlins (1-2) in Crailsheim 81-77 on Friday. It was an exceptional evening for Norwegian point guard Harald Frey (188-1997, college: Montana St.) who led the winners and scored 25 points. American Mark Smith (193-1999, college: Kansas St.) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. American Jaren Lewis (201-1996, college: ACU) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Otis Livingston II (180-1996, college: GMU) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Hakro Merlins in the defeat. Four BG Goettingen and five Hakro Merlins players scored in double figures. Hakro Merlins' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BG Goettingen will meet at home Seawolves (#5) in the next round. Hakro Merlins will play against Bayreuth (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
