Regular Season Round 4: Muenster 2 - Aachen 87-67

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Muenster 2 and bottom-ranked Aachen had identical 0-2 record. This time Muenster 2 used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Aachen 87-67 on Saturday night. Muenster 2 forced 20 Aachen turnovers. Strangely Aachen outrebounded Muenster 2 42-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by point guard Lorenz Neuhaus (183-2003) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 assists and Jan Koenig (201-1993) supported him with 24 points. Four Muenster 2 players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by swingman Tim Schoenborn (193-1990) did not help to save the game for Aachen. American forward Sasha French (211-1996, college: Azusa Pacific) added 14 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Muenster 2 (1-2) left bottom position moving up to ninth place in West, which they share with Hagen-Haspe and Bonn 2. It was Aachen's third loss in a row. Aachen at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Ibbenbueren and Koeln DTV. Muenster 2 will meet Bonn 2 (#9) on the road in the next round. Aachen will play against Leverkusen 2 and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
