Regular Season Round 3: Karsiyaka - Elazig Karabulut 49-98

Very predictable result in Izmir where Elazig Karabulut (2-1) smashed Karsiyaka (0-3) 98-49 on Saturday. Elazig Karabulut dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Karsiyaka's 26. Elazig Karabulut forced 24 Karsiyaka turnovers and outrebounded them 57-39 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Elazig Karabulut looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Karsiyaka's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Ameryst Alston (175-1993, college: Ohio St.) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Betul Gulec (183-1997) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Elazig Karabulut players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Nehir Gumussoy who recorded 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Sila Dikmenogullari (-2003) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Elazig Karabulut will meet at home Izmit in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Karsiyaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Izmir to the arena Urla.
