Regular Season Round 2: Steaua B. - Galati 83-88

There was a small surprise in Bucuresti where Galati beat Steaua B. 88-83 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 29-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Serbian guard Luka Mitrovic (191-1996) scored 22 points and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Andrei Calenic (209) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Serbian point guard Strahinja Jovanovic (185-1996) responded with 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and American forward James Farr (208-1992, college: Xavier) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Five Galati and four Steaua B. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Galati will meet Constanta on the road in the next round. Steaua B. will play against Focsani and hope to win that game.
