Regular Season Round 4: Lietkabelis - Zalgiris 66-74

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Lietkabelis (3-1) in Panevezys. Hosts were defeated by Zalgiris (4-0) 74-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lietkabelis. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Edgaras Ulanovas (199-1992) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 5 assists and American guard Keenan Evans (191-1996, college: Texas Tech) who added 12 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamaee (194-1999) responded with 19 points and 4 assists and forward Gabas Maldunas (205-1993, college: Dartmouth) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Zalgiris and four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Jonava. Lietkabelis at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Rytas and Wolves. Zalgiris will play against Gargzdu (#10) in Gargzdai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lietkabelis will play on the road against Juventus (#9) in Utena and hopes to get back on the winning track.
