Regular Season Round 4: Rytas - Nevezis 88-92
Date: October 10, 2022
There was an upset when higher ranked Rytas (3-1) lost to seventh ranked Nevezis (2-2) in Vilnius 88-92 on Monday. Nevezis made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Rytas outrebounded Nevezis 40-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Latvian guard Arturs Zagars (190-2000) who scored that evening 21 points and American guard Brad Davison (193-1999, college: Wisconsin) supported him with 16 points. Nevezis' coach Gediminas Petrauskas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds by the former international Gytis Radzevicius (197-1995) did not help to save the game for Rytas. The former international center Martynas Echodas (206-1997) added 12 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Four Nevezis and five Rytas players scored in double figures. Nevezis moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Siauliai and P.Zvaigzdes. Defending champion Rytas keeps the third position with one game lost. They share it with Lietkabelis and Wolves. Nevezis will meet at home Siauliai (#8) in the next round. Rytas will play against the league's leader Jonava (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
